See how the spaces between the pixels

now begin to widen

while the room loses focus

and the faces fall apart

dissolving into the busy

push and shove of the corridor

and the scattered campus

of grades and coffee

holding you for a season

neither as a lover, parent nor friend

in a tight embrace of words

but only on the tips of my fingers

with the lightest of touch

the careful balance

of how long to hold on

and the moment to let go

of you

and this now empty room

and all our Tuesdays
