This house has been at sea all night

This house has been at sea all night
faring through a frozen ocean
each second marked
by creaks and scrapes
the rasp and screech
of both iron and wood.
This house has been
submerged all night
the air so thick with cold.
This house has found the dawn
harboured in a silver glacial light.
Under the blinds
the garden is becalmed-
an ice-ribbed winter ship.
The boat a titanic frame of white
and clean-picked bones
beneath an albatross of frost.

These poems are from my new collection IN THE APRICOT DARKNESS (view the cover and contents below in my recent posts). They are now being published individually, daily under 'recent posts' on my blog and will be shortly available as an eBook that can be read online or downloaded for free.
